In February of 2007... I got an email from my dear friend Amy saying that for weeks, she'd been secretly dating a guy we all knew, Ray Wotring. To quote her email " i know your jaw is probably on your keyboard right now. it started out just hanging out and trying to be better friends, then things sorta developed. not sure where its going or any of that at this point. but obviously i've been keeping it a secret and i wanted you girls to know."
Fast forward 2.5 years and you’ll find my DC friends celebrating the marriage of my favorite Democrat and one of the most anti-government people I’ve ever met this past weekend. I think Ray’s dad said it best at his toast on Saturday night…. “You’ll find that they don’t agree on much politically or in sports, but when it comes to the things that really matter, they always agree.”
This makeshift sign was made to separate us from the 3 other winery weddings that were taking place in Leesburg on Saturday!
As we watched Amy walk down the aisle toward Raymond, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd. She looked so beautiful on her mother’s arm. Sunset Hills was the perfect setting for an intimate fall wedding—the guests all enjoyed the wonderful food and wine while watching the magnificent sunset.
After the sun went down, the party began. The DC crew danced the night away as we celebrated the marriage of Amy and Ray. It really was a wonderful evening with most of us being together again for the first time in a long time... Taylor flew in from Texas and Evan flew in from Iraq.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Wotring... I hope you enjoy your time in Spain. We love you so much and are so happy you asked us to be a part of your celebration!
