After hanging out near the tidal basin, I got in my car and drove to PA to spend time with my friend Emilie and her family before her wedding shower on Saturday. It was such a beautiful drive through the PA countryside and it was so nice to see the Millers! We made Emilie's famous lasagna and watched Pretty Woman and then spent the night reliving the 2 years that we spent on the NJHA board... doesn't seem as if it's been that long!
On Saturday after her shower, I drove back to DC to celebrate my friend Regan's birthday and his recent acceptance to the Harvard Business School. I have such smart friends! We took a party boat on the Potomac to drink beer and watch the fireworks from the Cherry Blossom festival. After we finished the cruise, Whitney and I decided to grab Chicago-style pizza in Old Town!
On Sunday morning I got up at 3:45 a.m. to attend the sunrise service at the Lincoln Memorial.
I have been wanting to attend a sunrise service and with the perfect weather we had on Easter, I felt it was a good day to do it. It was a little cold as we were waiting with the other 3,000 or so early risers... but when the sun rose over the Washington Monument with the Capitol in the background, I was really proud that I had woken up early to celebrate the Resurrection!
Here's our group right before the sun came up... I am so glad Ashley, Carrie, Kim and Eric shared their Easter with me!
During the ceremony, they sang one of my favorite Easter songs. My favorite line- "And we are raised with Him: Death is dead, Love has won, Christ has conquered. " What an incredible blessing Christ has given us!After the ceremony, we went to the tidal basin to take a few pictures in our Easter dresses. This one was definitely my favorite!!
My dear friend's Chris and Will had us over to their house for an Easter feast with all of our DC friends. I got to meet Chris' mom and step-dad for the first time and they really are a family after my own heart... we played card games all afternoon! All in all, I had a wonderful weekend spent with lots of friends! Hope that you and your family enjoyed your Easter wherever you celebrated!
I was so happy to be able to spend Easter with you!!
