I love baseball... I grew up in a baseball house. This might have something to do with the fact that my dad was an all-state pitcher when he was at Permian High school. He'd never tell you that, but he was an incredible ball player. My brother was also a great baseball player... my dad coached him and his teammates from the time they were 5 until they were in high school. My dad is a NY Yankees fan. I know, it's a little weird, but we've always cheered for the Yankees. I think it's because when he was younger, they were the only team on t.v. In 2007, I got to experience Yankees Stadium with my dad and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. The fact that the Yankees swept Boston was only part of the reason we had such a good time...
This summer, we lost a baseball legend. George Steinbrenner, the owner of the NY Yankees, completely renovated the greatest baseball franchise of all time. When he bought the team in the '70's, the Yankees needed a facelift. He took them to win 7 World Series' and 11 pennants.Ironically, the Boss passed away on the day of the 2010 All Star game. For the first time in 13 years, the National League beat the American league... was this a coincidence? Maybe or maybe not...
Although I didn't watch much of the game, I have to say that my favorite part of the game was definitely when Colbie Caillat sang "God Bless America."
