Among the vineyards there were some of my VA favorites: Cardinal Point, Lake Anna, and Horton Vineyards! We've been going to the VA wine festival each fall, but it was really fun to try our hand at another festival...Our first stop was Breaux vineyards... where my co-worker Johnny was volunteering with his wife Gail! We then trudged around in the mud to find our favorites and discover new ones.
Among our travels, we found two hidden treasures.... Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery and Democracy Vineyards. Hill Top makes these great meads-- one of them was a Lavender Honey Mead and it was one of my favorites of the day. Democracy Vineyards was started by a husband wife team when they tired of the political game in DC and ventured into the wine-making business.
After kissing the Devil (Peaks of Otter winery in southern VA makes a habanero wine!) we made our purchases and headed back to the beltway.... it was a wonderful day to hang out with my fabulous friends on a beautiful early summer day! Make mine Virginia wine!
