Hot child in the City...

This weekend I went to see my friend Nathan in New York City. I told him that I wanted to spend some time NOT playing tourist in his city. I've been to NYC almost 15 times in my 3.5 years in DC and every time I've spent time going to the Empire State Bldg., Battery Park, Central Park, and other tourist destinations. This time-- I wanted to do things that the natives do.

First thing we did was hit up a fun restaurant in the Village called Rodeo-- we had fried pickle chips, fajitas and some fabulous margaritas! They had a live bluegrass band and we met a guy with an Aggie vest on... he was only from Bryan, but still it was a nice taste of Texas in the Big Apple.

On Saturday he humored me with a trip to Chinatown... I have an obsession with cheap bags and perfume! In return, we went on an unofficial tour of his showroom in SoHo and I got to see some of the collections that his company "reps." I am learning some of this fashion industry lingo... but I am so far behind. I don't think I really knew what couture was until I was in college!

Saturday afternoon was spent at the pier in the West Village... last summer we ran into a co-worker of his and she showed us this hidden treasure just off Christopher street. It was a great afternoon to relax with a bottle of wine and just do some people watching! After the piers we stopped for a treat at Magnolia bakery on Bleeker before eyeing shoes at Loubotin and heading back to Brooklyn to get ready for our big night on the town... I even packed heels for the evening (which I never do!)
Saturday night we went to the Frying Pan at Chelsea piers and had a great dinner-- and then after a crazy taxi ride where Nathan accidentally tipped the Cabbie $15, we made our way to the Box... one of NYC's trendiest places. We waited in line for the jerk doorman to let us in-- and then watched the "Cabaret"

Interesting evening.

After getting back to Brooklyn and Nathan's house around 5 a.m. on Sunday, we returned to the pier on Sunday afternoon for another lazy afternoon before my return to D.C. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend in one of my favorite cities!
