We are the world...

If you saw the opening ceremonies and the first day of the Olympics, you saw the new We are the World video. Although I was really young when the first one came out, I've seen it several times and it's always been moving that so many talented artists came together to raise money to end hunger in Africa. I'm not a bleeding heart, but I do appreciate when people come together for the betterment of others. I love great music- and with this many talented people in the same room, it's something to watch.

Although it would be hard to ever top the original, I think Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie did a good job of honoring the first video, while making it fresh for a new generation at the same time. Since I had a hard time recognizing all the artists (I like people.com, but I am not that obsessed with celebrities!) I looked up an article on Wikipedia that listed all the artists in the order of their appearance. MTV also did an article on what current artists replaced the original artist's contribution to the song.

I think the only thing was lacking was Steve Perry's absence in the new song... I think he should be in all songs. Long live Journey!
