Last night I met up with my college roommate Amanda and her husband Mike to watch the Air Force band perform on the steps of the Capitol... my friend Kristi had seen them before and had warned me that they weren't your usual ceremonial brass. Max Impact is a section of the AF band that caters to a younger crowd- and they are incredibly entertaining. Last night's performance was a tribute to the 70's and they played everything from Earth, Wind and Fire to Tina Turner and ABBA!
It was a perfect night to be out with friends... we were dancing on the steps of the Capitol and there were people of all ages dancing with us. We even had a few members of Congress stop by for a listen. Kay Bailey Hutchison was there-- I didn't know she had such good taste in music! Still don't know if she's my pick for the next Governor of Texas, but I think she was actually enjoying herself at the concert and all her grandkids were there... she may be a U.S. Senator, but I don't think she'd mind you calling her "ma'am."
We went up after the concert to thank them for their service and have a CD signed... They'll be back for another performance on August 11th... cannot wait to catch it and bring lots of friends!!!
